History

Fishkill is a town in Dutchess County, New York State.  It contains a village, which is also called Fishkill.  Fishkill got its name from the Dutch word Vis Kill, which stands for “fish creek.”

Bald Hill is the sight of a Navy plane crash.  Six servicemen were killed in the crash on 11/11/1945.

Our Impressions

This was a challenging hike with beautiful views of the Hudson Valley.  It was a great relief after our disappointing hike in the Delaware Water Gap.  It was also fairly crowded but did not feel as cluttered with hikers as Delaware and there was no loud music to disturb our peace.
