Date of hike: 03/21/2021

Difficulty level: easy

Distance: 4.8 miles round trip

Elevation: 2,433 feet

Elevation gain: 830 feet

Location: Shenandoah National Park, VA

This hike was at the northern end of the Skyline Drive, near the Front Royal entrance, and on the way home.  We decided to get some exercise before our long drive home.  The drive would be 5.5 hour drive back to my house and then Sheldon has to drive another 1.5 hours more back to his home.  We picked an easy short hike.  No hiking boots necessary on this hike although hiking sticks were very helpful especially after the two boot camp hiking days.  Not very scenic at all except for the starting/finishing point, which is the Dickey Ridge Visitor Center.  Not your classical hike – it starts downhill and then you go back up to finish.

The hike actually includes two hikes that can be done separately or together – the Fox Hollow Trail, which is the shorter hike and the Snead Farm Loop trail, which is the longer trail.

All in all, Dickey Ridge was not our favorite hike but a great way to get some blood pumping before a long drive back home. As you can see, we did not even take any photographs or videos.
