History

The Village of Cold Spring is in the town of Philliipstown in Putnam County, NY in the Hudson Highlands.  It is in the deepest part of the Hudson River, directly across from West Point Military Academy.  It was established in 1846 and has approximately 2,000 residents. 

It was named Cold Spring after George Washington took a sip from the spring and thought that it was very cold.

It includes many restaurants, antique shops, and parks and offers various activities such as boating, hiking, cycling, and kayaking.  Cold Spring is known for its many artists, writers, and prominent families.

Our Impressions

What a gorgeous waterfront town by the mountains!  The views of the Hudson River are spectacular.  It is definitely worth a visit, especially after hiking in the area.
